Brainerd man arrested by Onamia Police

Onamia Police Department arrest a Brainerd man who was at large on Sunday May 8th. 

According to Brainerd Police Chief, Corky McQuiston, Enoch Harrison Stapleton III, who is 38 years old, was arrested shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Stapleton was transported to the Crow Wing County jail, where he is awaiting formal charges.

Police were seeking Stapleton after an assault was report at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, May 5th, at a residence on the 300 block of Gillis Avenue Northeast.  The assault victim fled the scene with his dog and called police.  When authorities arrived to investigate the report, they found the residence filled with smoke.  Authorities believe the fire was intentionally set by the suspect after the resident fled.

Further investigation revealed the resident most likely interrupted a burglary in progress, stated police.
