The Staples-Motley Early Childhood Coalition (SMECC) will begin an endowment fund. The endowment fund will be developed through contributions and fundraising events over the next few years. Once the fund reaches a feasible goal, interest earned will be used to enhance early childhood programming throughout the Staples Motley School District. Saturday, April 14, SMECC will present Savor the Moment. The fundraiser event will provide gourmet samples and cooking demonstrations from some of our area’s restaurants and caterers. Chefs from Allie’s Catering, Harvest Thyme Bistro, Jeff Blessing, Ernie’s Liquor, Staples Bakery and Convenience, The Shante and Tower Pizza will compete in an appetizer/entrée and/or dessert category. Savor the Moment will be held at Landmark Inn in Staples from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission tickets are $25 per person in advance or $30 at the door. Tickets are available at smearlychildhood.org, the Staples Motley Community Education office, or by calling (218) 894-1897. Advance purchases on tickets are recommended, as tickets are limited. This year, guests have the opportunity to reserve a table. There will be limited reserved tables and a maximum seating for six available for $300. Tables must be purchased in advance by calling Sara Dregney (894-1897). “We are so grateful to all the participating businesses and admire their commitment to early childhood programming,” said Beth Fabian, Staples-Motley Early Childhood Coalition president. “We are looking forward to a really fun evening filled with delicious food and amazing demonstrations.” All proceeds from Savor the Moment will be used by the SMECC to support early childhood programs in the Staples Motley area. A portion of proceeds will be reserved for the endowment fund. For more information, contact Sara Dregney.
